Sunday 14th October - walk **** sunny start then clouded over.
As there is not a breath of wind today we had an easy, relaxing day in our
lovely spot at Sigean which now holds the record for nights stayed in one
place with 10! 6 of those in a row! We had a lie in and read our books
then exercises, breakfast, hair wash etc.. Had a walk to Hammeau Les
cabbanes (we canoed there when we spent the day exploring the Sigean
Etang). It is a nice walk around the edge of the Etang so we saw Herons,
Egrets, gulls and a small murmeration of starlings :),when we walked across
the causeway between two etangs flamingos flew right over our heads, one
group of adults and one of babies (they don’t seem to mix). We were gone
about 3 hours so probably walked further than we thought! Came back to the
van for lunch and were begrudged every mouthful by a big old, fat Labrador
who came to visit! He was no bother, just watched us. He was a magnet for
the mozzies which are a bit of a pain here. Mag put lots of repellent on
but I didn’t and they did bother me today which is most unusual. Mag
didn’t have too much trouble. Read and dozed then walked up to the
tables of orientation in the woods above the Port and played cards while
the sun was still warm :) There was a big group of people having a picnic
and meal over in the car park up on the hill :) Back to the van for tea
and quiet evening. Well rested for big windy Monday at La Franqui
tomorrow. Apparently the forecast wind is early so we might see if we can
get there for the sunrise which is about 7.30-7.45 at the moment.
